Nutritious Raspberry Spinach Smoothie

Nutritious Raspberry Spinach Smoothie

Today was one of those days where I was in and out of the house running from one place to the next. So, with just 10 minutes at home around lunchtime, I whipped together this nutritious raspberry spinach smoothie. With the high fiber, iron and protein it always keeps me full and I don’t feel like I missed anything.

This well balanced, nutritious raspberry spinach smoothie is not only good for you, it tastes amazing too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup spinach
  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt

  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds (or ground flax)

*If you prefer your smoothies more sweet add ¼ banana

Blend until smooth.

Makes 1 smoothie

Did you know?!

Raspberries have WAY more fiber than other berries? With 8 grams of fiber per cup they beat the poor blueberry at 3.6 grams of fiber per cup and the strawberry at 2.9 grams of fiber per cup.

Greek yogurt is packed with vitamins and nutrients. Check out the nutritional details here. With 12 to 17.3 grams of protein (depending on the brand) it’s a great energy source – with even more protein than milk.

Spinach is packed with nutrients and an excellent source of protein, folate, vitamin A and K. It also has over 6 mg of iron (highest iron out of all non-animal iron sources). Please keep in mind though! You’ll want to choose organic spinach, as non-organic spinach is one of the most 12 contaminated foods with over 50 pesticides. Scary, right?!

This is my go-to smoothie recipe. Tell me what yours is in the comment section below…

Enjoy 🙂

  1. My favourite smoothy is similar to yours-raspberry, chocolate protein powder, and milk. I like spinach in my smoothies, but I wish I had a better blender so it would mix in better.

    1. Are you using baby spinach or larger spinach? My blender isn’t the greatest but I find baby spinach blends up pretty well 🙂

  2. MMM I love everything with raspberries in it. I see spinach/greens in smoothies all the time, but I’ve never tried it. I think I just need to take the plunge and give it a try 🙂 Thanks for the great recipe – I know what’s for breakfast tomorrow!

  3. oh my! this is almost identical to smoothies I use to make the hubby! we haven’t tried hemp seeds though, so I’m going to keep those in mind!

  4. Pinned it to try for later! I’m always searching for good smoothie recipes, so I’m definitely going to have to try this one.

  5. Mmm! This sounds delish. Yesterday I tried a peach, banana, and strawberry smoothie with soy protein and it was delish! I also love banana and peanut butter with chocolate protein.

  6. Oh, yum! This looks so delicious! I have a bit of an obsession with spinach that began during pregnancy. Despite the many strange looks I have received when I say I absolutely love spinach, I know that it is very tasty in a juice or smoothie! I love the idea of combining it with raspberries. I can imagine that raspberries bring out a nice sweet, tart flavor. This smoothie sounds perfect as a breakfast on-the-go because it really has everything. I can’t wait to try it!

    1. Thanks! It really is yummy 🙂 I agree re: spinach and I personally prefer spinach in my smoothies to kale.

    1. Yes you do!. A snack I love is cut up apple with almond butter. Even though it’s healthy it tricks your mind into thinking you’re having a treat.
