How to Use Facebook Groups For Your Blogging Business.
With blogging, there is always a lot to learn. What I love the most is the positive experience many blogging Facebook groups give. I have discovered so many bloggers that inspire me both on a personal and a career level. It’s a community that works HARD and sticks together, helping one another to achieve great things.
With that said I wanted to share the ins and outs of how to get the most of blogging Facebook groups, so you can grow your social media exposure and garner strong relationships.

Before I get into how, here are the top Facebook groups I use.
Most Engaging Blogging Facebook Groups
I recommend these groups as they are key traffic drivers for my blog and have also taught me a ton about the blogging world.
Blogging with Heart
Made up of bloggers from various niches, this group has to be my personal favourite. It’s full of smart bloggers that are extremely helpful. Blogging with Heart has multiple daily threads to support all social channels. Since this group is all about heart, the members do truly support one another in a way I haven’t seen in other groups.
Pinterest Ninjas
I joined this group recently after completing the Become a Pinterest Ninja eCourse, from Megan Johnson at LoveFamilyHealth.com. Pinterest Ninjas Facebook group has daily threads that support social channels as well as the promotion of new content. This group is created for those who’ve completed the Pinterest Ninja course.
About Pinterest Ninja: A must for those bloggers looking to master Pinterest. Learn all about Pinterest from setting up a Pinterest business account, creating the perfect ‘pinnable’ images (with the top tools and best practices), learn how to use Pinterest Analytics, Tailwind scheduler, SEO for Pinterest and over 350 Pinterest groups who are accepting contributors.
There are also a ton of resources and creative assets included which is a big bonus. The great thing is it’s updated frequently and you get every free update to stay on top of the latest changes with Pinterest. Course info here.
Pinterest Pals
Pinterest Pals is 100% focused on Pinterest (hence the name)! I have found this group to be a great source of growing my Pinterest traffic as I get a lot of engagement on all my pins. There is a daily thread – even on weekends.
Bloggers Unite on Pinterest
Dedicated to all things Pinterest. On top of having a daily Pinterest thread, Bloggers Unite on Pinterest has a weekly follow 10, weekly comment on 10, plus a weekly group Pinterest board thread for those looking to contribute to boards or get new contributors to their own boards.
Blogging Newbs
Blogging Newbs is a larger group with 17,000+ members. What I like about this group is most of the engagement is asking/answering questions. This is a great way to gain knowledge and share what you’ve learned. There is also a couple of all group threads a few times a week.

Hey Bloggers! Check out my top Facebook blogging groups I recommend + 7 tips on how to truly benefit from them. #bloggerswanted #bloggersrequired #socialmedia Click To TweetNow that you have some great groups to get you started, here’s some useful information for you.
How to Benefit from Facebook Groups. Tips to Help You Succeed:
1. Post Early
If you are contributing to a Facebook group thread, post your content as early as possible. By being one of the first to post in a thread will give you more views and higher chances of your post being shared or engaged with. Basically, by posting early you’ll notice your content is being shared more.
2. Save Each Thread
If you are part of multiple Facebook groups you may have a hard time remembering what you need to complete. Each group will have its own set of rules which you must follow in order to stay in the group. To avoid forgetting what threads you’ve contributed to, save each thread and then unsave once completed.
3. Think of Each Group as Your Target Audience
Once you start contributing to different groups, you’ll start to notice what kind of content the members like (and share). In order to increase engagement only post content the members of the group would be happy to share/like/engage with.
How to Benefit from Facebook Groups - A Bloggers Guide. #blogging #socialmedia Click To Tweet4. Be a GOOD Group Member
Don’t just drop a link to your site/post and leave. You’ll notice it won’t get you far and you’ll eventually get removed from a group. Facebook blogging groups are all about helping other bloggers and in exchange, they will help you. Be genuine and you’ll get the same back.
5. Ask Questions, but also Answer Them
Relationships go BOTH ways. If you have a question about Wordpress or Google Analytics or anything, it feels great to get legitimate responses back, that actually help you. I have been amazed by just how helpful most people are in FB groups. So, if you see someone else post a question, take the time to help them if you can. They will appreciate it immensely and it feels good to share your skills.
6. Make Connections
Genuinely follow and engage with bloggers you love. Build a relationship with likeminded bloggers. Find ways to collaborate with them and share their content. Blogging is a like an online family and once you’ve been doing it a while you will rely on some select bloggers who will happily give you feedback and work with you.
7. Keep Track
Take note of how helpful each group is. Do you find your content is being engaged with? Are people answering your questions? Are you getting out as much as you are putting in? If the answer is no, then leave the unhelpful groups and try out some new groups.
I personally find that the extremely large groups are harder to engage with as SO many people are contributing content that it makes it next to impossible to garner a relationship with anyone. See what types of groups work for you and commit to them.
There you have it! This is how I use Facebook groups.

This is a very helpful article, Yolanda! We’ve been blogging for about the same amount of time and participate in many of the same groups. It’s fun being in this together! Thanks so much for your tip about saving threads. I’ve been keeping track with pen and paper, but saving and unsaving makes so much sense!
Hi Kate! Thanks for the feedback, and yes it is great being in this together 🙂 Yeah, I’ve found that saving the threads makes my life so much easier!!
These are such great tips! I am absolutely checking out these groups!
Belle | One Awesome Momma
Thanks Belle!
I really enjoyed these tips! I love that you talk about making connections because I feel like so many people don’t try to make connections because they feel it’s overrated but some of my best times blogging have been through the connections I’ve made.
Hi Kara – thanks for the feedback 🙂 Agree – it’s all about the connections, after all it’s real people behind the profiles and groups!
This was insanely helpful – thank you! And thank you for posting some of your favorite FB groups – that’s awesome! I really enjoy the getting to know people aspect but it’s actually incredibly tough as I feel as though some of the groups are super network-focused.
Thanks so much Clarissa! I think it’s all about finding the right groups for you. I have signed up to some and left them as they weren’t a good fit.
Being a part of Facebook groups as a blogger has helped me grow so much and I’ve met so many fellow bloggers from it! It definitely is worth posting on the groups earlier in the day 🙂
Agree!
Join the group I’m an admin in – Blog Passion Project – it’s awesome and we’d love to have you! FB groups are so great to connect with other bloggers with similar focuses!
I’m in your group! Love this one too 🙂
I’m a huge fan of using Facebook groups myself! So useful.
I agree with posting early! It helps to get your links out there right away. I wish I had discovered and started spending time in Facebook groups much earlier than I did. They’re so helpful!
They are so helpful! Thx for the feedback Crystal.
As a new blogger, I have found that Facebook groups are so helpful and it is wonderful to connect with people all over the world. Saving the links you join is key to keeping organized and ensuring members complete threads.
Completely agree Lisa 🙂
These are such great tips! FB groups are a HUGE help.
I’m so glad I checked out this post! I’m in a LOT of blogging groups on Facebook (which is how I ended up here, since we are in at least one mutual one), but have never heard of the ones you mentioned. I’ll definitely look into them. I love your tips, too! I never thought of SAVING the threads I post in – that’s brilliant, because yes, they’re hard to keep track of, especially with being in multiple groups. I also bought myself a blue sparkly notebook (blue for blogging) to write down all my groups and the rules in each, as well as when and where I comment, and the reciprocation. And yes, posting EARLIER – I have to work on that one! Thanks again for a great post! 🙂
Thanks for your feedback 🙂 Yes, saving the threads is a life saver!
Some of the threads are so time consuming! I wish I would be better at actively engaging in them though. I definitely love the save feature of Facebook though!
I agree – some threads can be. That’s why I recommend only participating in what you have time to do – and figure out which groups are worth it!
I need to join the pinterest one! I am trying to up my pinterest game!
Go for it! They are do beneficial 🙂
I totally agree about posting early!! I started blogging in 2008/2009, so groups weren’t even a thing until 2012. But it seems like in the past 2-3 years, they have been widely successful!
I need to tap into your mind if you’ve been blogging that long 🙂 I’ll check out your site, social feeds, etc!
You are so sweet! I am so glad to have you as part of our BWH group! It really is an amazing group of ladies. Thanks for sharing!
Like I said Terryn – It’s my fav group 🙂 xo
Facebook groups are truly amazing! I just joined Blogging With Heart after reading this 🙂
This is super helpful! And I agree – posting early in the groups increases my engagement so much!
Thanks Corey 🙂 Yes, early is best!!
I found this post on Pinterest. I just made a point this week to start participating in Facebook groups so your tips are timely. I will check out the ones you listed. Thanks for the tips on saving the thread and about posting early.
I’ll be pinning this post since I know more people need to see this.
Hi Stacy – So happy you found this and thanks for the feedback. Facebook groups have been SO helpful and I’m sure you’ll notice what an impact they make once you start using them regularly!
I think I need to be more consistent about participating in FB groups but I feel like I’m part of a community and it’s nice to join groups where other people are engaged and participate and answer questions and it isn’t only about self-promotion.
If I can’t comment and engage with others, I don’t participate because I don’t think it’s fair to just drop a link!

Thank you for the excellent article and tips. I never thought about saving and unsaving. Great idea!
The saving/unsaving will be a big help once you start doing it!
Great advice! Sending this to a blogger friend of mine.
WOW, your blog post got a lot of comments. What is your secret?? I agree with all your points, from somebody who’s trying to build my own Facebook group and a user.
That’s why point 4 resonated the most with me, because I’m always very picky who I engage with. I dont want to attract the wrong people.
I wanted to share a TIP: I use Google Cal to keep track of which FB group I want to post in. I get a daily reminder and I have copied and pasted the group rules where needed. Keeps it all together nicely in one place 🙂 Kris
Thanks so much for the feedback Kristin!! Yes, focusing on groups like a target audience is so important 🙂 Thanks for the Google Calendar tip. Very smart and helpful.
Super helpful! Thank you for sharing. I didn’t know you could save a post for later. I always forget what I share!
Good to hear! Yes! Saving your post makes it so much easier to keep track. You’ll be so thankful for that feature once you start using it 🙂
This was very helpful and coincidentally I am on o w of the groups and hadn’t been using it. I will now as I have been uping my Pinterest game.
I love how many comments you pull in ! How do you do that??? 🙂 It’s incredible, I had to scroll for ages to get to the bottom 🙂
I’m also a Pinterest Ninja and digital friend of Megan. Anyways, I would love to know your secret.
Hey Kristin! No secret – I just try and engage with people and help them out when possible and in return people like to pay it back with shares and comment (I think) 🙂 Yes, Megan is fantastic and has a lot of knowledge to share!
I’ll use these tips to grow my blog. This is so helpful 🙂
Good to hear – hope it helps!
This is a very timely post for me.! I started blogging in Nov. 2017 and trying to do everything myself. However, in the past month I have learned that collaboration is so key. I have taken part in so many groups that I have so much activity and link juice going on. I love the advice you give about saving the threads. I am part of so many groups and threads that I sometimes forget which ones I posted on lol. Thanks so much for the extremely helpful post! See u around I’m sure.
Hi Alexander – thanks for the note. Great to hear and really happy it was helpful. I’m sure we will see each other around. Take care!!
Well, this was super helpful! Thanks.
Great to hear – thanks Leah 🙂
WOW thank you so much!! I’ve recently gotten back into blogging and even though these Facebook groups intimidate me, I know they will help out in the long run!!!
Hi Olivia – I hope this was helpful! All the best 🙂
These are really good tips on how to benefit from Facebook groups. I especially like the idea of thinking of each group as your target audience. This idea has been dawning on me recently
So helpful! Thank you.
Hi Annette – So glad you found this helpful. All the best!
Thank you for this! I just started joining blogging groups on Facebook, and I feel like they have promoted my blog more than any other social site because I have been able to communicate with more bloggers like me! I was looking for how to optimize my engagement with others, and then I found your post on Pinterest!
great advice, I really need to implement this stuff
Facebook groups are such a huge help, so just by doing some of these things will definitely help 🙂
Great tips Yolanda! I just secured my domain name and am working on a few articles before launching my new blog. I am definitely going to look into these groups for support as I have so many questions and am quickly getting hooked on developing my new blog!
Your blog has been a great blogging 101 resource to me already and I look forward to your future posts! (And being a tea drinker myself, your blog name is so cute!)
Happy Blogging!
This is such a helpful article! I also joined your Canadian bloggers group. I can’t wait to connect and learn more! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Mel! So glad this was helpful 🙂 I look forward to connecting with you as well!
